Switching your energy supplier is as easy as switching a light bulb with Yahoo!’s free and impartial comparison and switching service.
Read on for our step-by-step guide to getting the best value deal for your gas and electricity.
Step 1: Tell us about your current deal
To see if you could save by switching we need some details about your current deal. All we need to know is:
Who your current suppliers are
Which plan you are on
How much you pay each month or year OR how much gas and electricity you use
All these details can be found on your bills, but don’t worry if you can’t find one – we can work out your usage by asking you a few quick questions.
Step 2: Compare your results
We search through the suppliers and plans available to you and create a results table ordered by the biggest saving you could make. Your results show:
The calculated annual savings for each plan
The calculated annual price for each plan
The customer rating for each supplier
The features and conditions of each plan
Once you’ve found the right plan for you, we’ll help you switch in the next step.
Step 3: Make the switch
You can switch immediately using our online application. It takes just a few minutes to complete your details and confirm your switch.
Step 4: Setting up your new account
Once you confirm your switch, everything is taken care of for you.
We send you a confirmation email containing the details of your switch. The supplier you are switching to will contact you to confirm the date that your new supply will start. This should be within two weeks of you completing your switch, however please note that it can take up to six weeks. The supplier will try and switch you in the shortest possible time. They also tell your old supplier that you’re switching. You will not lose your supply at any point.
What do you need to do?
You need to provide a meter reading to both your new and old supplier, so your old supplier can send a final bill and your new supplier can bill you correctly.
If you pay your old supplier by Direct Debit you should cancel this once your final bill has been settled.
