| | Anglo American, treasure hunters. The British company originates from the 1999 merger between the companies Anglo American Corporation of South Africa and Minorco and is a genuine expert in gathering treasures. The company owns 16% of AngloGold Ashanti, one of the very first producers of gold in the world, 78% of Anglo Platinum, the global leader in the production of platinum, 45% of De Beers, the world's leading company in diamond production and trade, and 64% of Kumba Iron Ore, pure-player in South Africa. These are strong, emblematic holdings that makes one almost forget the 5 divisions it owns outright, divisions not quite as graceful as the aforementioned gems and nuggets. These less noble productions include coal via Anglo Coal, nonferrous metal with Anglo Base Metals, ferrous metals (iron ore, chromium, steel) via Anglo Ferrous Metals and Industries, industrial minerals for construction mainly through Anglo Mineral Industrials and finally packaging and paper with the division Anglo Paper and Packaging operating under the brand Mondi (demerged in 2007). Anglo American - not resting on their golden laurels! |
