Disposable income reaches 10 year low

By Barney McCarthy

Nearly one in three people (30%) who are in a relationship are prepared to sacrifice their personal spending for their partner, according to Engage Mutual.

A further 22% of people are willing to cut back on going out, in order to save
money.

With disposable income in the UK having recently reached a 10 year low according to research from online switching service U-Switch, consumers have less money to spend this Christmas.

Of the nearly one in two people who share their finances with their partner, 88% are willing to make some kind of sacrifice in order to keep their partner happy.

Karl Elliott, spokesperson for Engage Mutual commented: It is encouraging that, rather than taking on further debt, people are prepared to work longer hours and cut back on spending in order to treat their partner.  However, as this research shows, readiness amongst couples to support each other financially shows that the population is prepared to go without themselves in order to provide for their loved ones.
