Byrne says GDP fall won't affect recovery
LONDON (Reuters) - The economy will return to growth later this year, despite data on Tuesday that showed a sharper than expected fall in output in the first quarter, Treasury Minister Liam Byrne said.
"They don't change the judgement made by the Chancellor (Alistair Darling) in the Budget that growth will return at the end of the year," Byrne said.
The Office for National Statistics said earlier GDP fell by 2.4 percent in the first quarter, revised down from a fall of 1.9 percent.
