UPDATE 1-UK's AIM sees best fundraising month since June 08

By Ben Deighton LONDON, May 29 (Reuters) - London's alternative investment market (AIM) says May is looking like the strongest month since last June in terms of companies raising cash.

'A total of around 470 million pounds ($753.6 million) has been raised so far this month, meaning May 2009 (is likely to be) the strongest month for fundraising since June last year when just over 1 billion pounds was raised,' a spokesman said.

The figure includes 220 million pounds raised by Max Property earlier this month.

Amounts raised by companies at the London Stock Exchange (LSE: LSE.L - news) 's AIM had dwindled to a trough of 67.3 million pounds in November 2008. In April a total of 107.3 million pounds was raised.
