U.S. markets opened higher on Tuesday, lifted after some positive corporate
earnings results, and after data showing that home prices rose for the fourth
straight month in August.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 44.14 points, or 0.45
percent, at 9,912.10. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 4.28
points, or 0.40 percent, at 1,071.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up
6.01 points, or 0.28 percent, at 2,147.86.
