Greece's Metka to bid for construction of PPC's new 570 mln euro power plant

ATHENS (Thomson Financial) - Greek engineering company Metka SA said it will be bidding in the tender held by electricity utility Public Power Corp SA (PPC) for the construction of a new power plant valued at 570 million euros.

The tender is for a 750 to 835 MW power plant in Megaloupoli and the date for submissions of bids expires July 8.

Brokers told Thomson Financial News that a successful bid for Metka would act as a positive catalyst for the stock.

Metka is a unit of Mytilineos Holdings SA.
