MCGRAW-HILL COS, $29.47, down 3.4 pct
The company reported third-quarter earnings that fell from the prior year and lowered its revenue outlook for the year on declines in its textbook segment and in advertising in its media unit but topped expectations by 2 cents.
LEGG MASON INC (NYSE: LM - news) , $32.50, up 1.9 pct
Activist investor Nelson Peltz will be elected to the company's board, in a move that will avoid a proxy fight for the next two years.
