Liechtenstein signs tax deal with Luxembourg
VADUZ (AFP) - Liechtenstein said Wednesday it has signed a double taxation agreement with Luxembourg that conforms to OECD standards, thereby allowing for an exchange of data to clamp down on tax cheats.
"With today?s signing of this agreement, we are pursuing our path of international cooperation in tax matters with determination and creating important framework conditions for the successful future of the Liechtenstein business location," Liechtenstein Prime Minister Klaus Tschuetscher said.
Liechtenstein in March caved in to international pressure over tax havens and pledged to negotiate bilateral treaties that would see the principality offering more assistance on matters involving tax offences.
It has concluded a similar agreement with Germany and the United States.
In addition, it made a deal with Britain to get British account holders to voluntarily disclose undeclared assets to their tax authorities.
