House prices fall on year in May

LONDON (Reuters) - House prices in England and Wales fell 15.9 percent on the year in May, the Land Registry said on Friday.

The average house price in May stood at 152,497 pounds, down 0.2 percent on the month, the government agency said.

The Land Registry figures are based on sale completions and therefore lag surveys by mortgage lenders.
