U.S. stock futures fall further after weak durable goods data
NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - U.S. stock futures fell further after the release of weaker-than-expected durable goods data on Wednesday.
S&P 500 futures were down 4.60 points at 1,346.80 and Nasdaq 100 (NASDAQ: news) futures shed 7.00 points to 1,819.00.
Just prior to the release of the data, S&P 500 futures were trading around 1,349.00 and Nasdaq futures were around 1,824.00.
The U.S. Commerce Department said February new orders for durable goods fell 1.7%, compared with the median estimate of economists surveyed by IFR Markets of a rise of 0.7%.
Excluding transportation orders, durable goods fell 2.6% vs. economist forecasts of a 0.4% decline.
