Consol Energy most volatile in sector
NEW YORK (AP) - As the quarter winds down, coal miner Consol Energy Inc (NYSE: CNX - news) . is the most volatile stock in the energy sector of the S&P 500 index.
The stock has an average 'beta value,' or measure of volatility, of 1.33, which implies that, in theory, it is 33 percent more volatile than the market in general.
The least volatile stock in the group is natural gas transport, processing and storage company Spectra Energy Corp (NYSE: SE - news) ., with a beta value of 0.85.
