Express Q3 earnings beat expectations

American Express (NYSE: AXP - news) late Thursday reported adjusted third-quarter earnings
that beat expectations, helped by cost cuts and lower-than-expected credit
losses.
Revenue for the Dow component was down 16 percent, while total card
spending slid 11 percent.
