STOCKS NEWS ASIA-Shares to make sluggish start

MELBOURNE, Nov 23 (Reuters) - Asian stocks are seen trading weaker on Monday following a soft session on Wall Street on worries about an anemic recovery, while tech stocks could come under pressure after Dell (NASDAQ: DELL - news) results missed expectations. The news of a 54 percent slide in Dell's quarterly profit rounded off a rocky week for the U.S. technology sector, which has been a market darling since March as investors bet on a strong recovery spurring corporate and consumer spending. For details, see Shares fell 10 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index dropped 3.52 points, or 0.32 percent, to 1,091.38. The Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 10.78 points, or 0.50 percent, to 2,146.04. Regional markets may lack a strong lead, with Tokyo closed for a public holiday. Last week, the Nikkei (news) stock average posted its first four-week losing streak in over a year. Australian shares were set to open steady, with share index futures 7.0 points lower at 4,694.0 points, but still at a premium of 8.2 points to the 4,685.7 close in the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index on Friday. New Zealand's benchmark NZX (NZX.NZ - news) 50 index stood 0.2 percent higher at 3,121.5 in early trade.
