Norfolk Southern "neutral," target price reduced

NEW YORK, December 20 (newratings.com) - Analyst J H Seidl of Credit Suisse maintains his "neutral" rating on Norfolk Southern Corp (ticker: NSC), while reducing his estimates for the company. The 12-month target price has been reduced from $58
to $57.

In a research note published this morning, the analyst mentions that fuel costs have risen significantly through the quarter. Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP - news) and FedEx (NYSE: FDX - news) have reduced their guidance due to fuel cost hikes, the analyst points out. The EPS estimates for FY07, FY08 and FY09 have been reduced to $3.56, $3.90 and $4.50, respectively.
