BoE's Spencer Dale to replace Bean as chief economist and join MPC
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - The Bank (TBHS - news) of England has announced that Spencer Dale will replace Charlie Bean as chief economist and join the rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee from July 1, the central bank said today.
Dale, aged 41, joined the BoE in 1989 and is currently a senior economist at the Bank, currently on secondment to the U.S. Federal Reserve in Washington. Between 1997-1999, he was BoE governor Mervyn King's private secretary responsible for providing economic and policy advice.
'Dale's two year secondment to the Federal Reserve will also bring valuable international experience to the MPC (A050540.KQ - news) ,' said King.
