Roche announces 9 monthly turnover up 12 percent
BASEL, Switzerland (AFP) - Swiss pharmaceuticals giant Roche (Virt-X: ROG.VX - news) announced a 12 percent jump in its turnover to 33.9 billion Swiss francs, (20.2 billion euros, 28.7 billion dollars) Tuesday in the first nine months of 2007.
The figures included a 12 percent rise in the sale of Tamiflu.
Some countries have started stockpiling the drug, which was developed as a weapon against any bird-flu pandemic, although Roche said Tamiflu sales had fallen off in the third quarter as the stockpiling orders were completed.
While the group said all regions had contributed to higher sales, growth was particularly strong in the Asia-Pacific (002790.KS - news) region, at 18 percent.
Roche said the results confirmed the full-year outlook of double-digit sales increases in the group and pharmaceuticals division.
