China economy grows in first half: govt

BEIJING (AFP) - China's economy expanded by 7.1 percent in the first half of 2009 compared with the same period a year earlier, the government has said.

China's economy expanded by 7.9 percent in the second quarter of 2009 compared with the same period a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics said.
