Southampton Leisure chairman, 2 directors resign; co cancels May 16 EGM
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Southampton Leisure Holdings Plc., the owner of Championship football club Southampton, said its chairman Leon Crouch and directors Patrick Trant and Keith Wiseman have resigned with immediate effect and, accordingly,
it has cancelled the EGM scheduled for May 16.
The company also said it has named ex-chairmen Rupert Lowe, Michael Wilde and former managing director Andrew Cowen as directors with immediate effect.
Southampton Leisure said it will make a further announcement in due course regarding its board changes.
On April 21, the company said it had called for an EGM on May 16 to consider resolutions to replace the current board.
On April 1, Southampton Leisure confirmed it had received a requisition from Wilde and Lowe to convene an EGM.
Wilde and Lowe hold 22 percent of the business between them. The company had also received letters from shareholders holding a further 20.3 percent, indicating that they would vote in favour of the resolutions proposed.
In March, Southampton Leisure confirmed press reports that it had been contacted by Lowe and had asked him for a 'detailed proposal setting out his intentions for the company'.
