LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Hikma Pharmaceutical, the Jordan-based generic medicines manufacturer, said sales in the first months of the year have grown by over 35 percent, with market share growth in its home Middle East region and in its injectables
business.

The company said it had experienced continued pricing pressure in the U.S. and consequently a significant decline in its gross margins. However, Hikma said its North American management team was trying to broaden the product mix and to lower manufacturing costs by allocating more capacity in Jordan for the U.S. market.

Hikma said its branded and injectables businesses continued to drive growth and that it is confident of another strong performance in 2008.
