U.S. House health bill to cost $1.04 trillion-CBO

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - The proposed Democratic healthcare legislation introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday would reduce the number of uninsured by about 37 million and cost about $1.04 trillion over 10 years, according a congressional analysis.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said its estimates of the bill were preliminary and based on details provided by authors of the legislation and not actual bill language. The analysis, provided in a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel on Tuesday, said that by 2019 about 17 million people would still lack insurance and nearly half of those would be illegal immigrants. Currently, there are an estimated 46 million uninsured.
