New care sales in Europe slump: trade data
BRUSSELS (AFP) - Sales of new cars in Europe fell for the twelfth month running in April, taking the drop in the first four months of the year to 15.9 percent, trade data showed.
The figures for April meant that sales over 12 months showed a fall 12.3 percent, the figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association showed.
Sales had fallen by 27 percent in January, 18.3 percent in February and 9.0 percent in March, but in that month subsidies for the scrapping of an old car replaced by a new one had stimulated sales in several countries.
