Motorola inks $310 mln deal with China Mobile
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Motorola (NYSE: MOT - news) announced on Thursday it has agreed to provide China Mobile Communications Corp. (CMCC) with 310 million dollars worth of mobile telecommunications equipment and services.
Motorola said the one-year agreement with China's biggest mobile provider was signed on April 27.
"Motorola has worked with China Mobile (0941.HK - news) for more than 20 years," Motorola China vice president and general manager Mohammad Akhtar said in a statement.
"As a long-term strategic partner of China Mobile, Motorola is proud to continue being a part of its growth," he said. "Motorola stands ready to support China Mobile in building a state-of-the-art network."
Motorola said its products will be used by China Mobile to integrate voice and data capacity on its mobile networks using GSM and TD-SCDMA standards.
Motorola has also recently inked contracts with Vietnam and Nigeria and Saudi Arabia to help develop their telephone networks.
