London stocks up at start of trading

LONDON (AFP) - The London stock market rose at the start of trade on Wednesday after finishing down the day before on continued gloomy news about the global economy.

The FTSE 100 index of leading shares was up 0.18 percent at 4,407.24 points.

Frankfurt's DAX 30 (Xetra: news) gained 0.54 percent to 4,661.84 points and in Paris the CAC 40 (Paris: news) added 0.59 percent to stand at 3,216.88.
