African Markets - Factors to watch on August 13
August 13 (Reuters) - The following company announcements, scheduled economic indicators, debt and currency market moves and political events may affect African markets on Thursday.

GLOBAL
MARKETS
Asian stocks and commodities rose on Thursday after the Federal Reserve said the U.S. economy was showing signs of levelling out.
The comments spurred investors to buy back shares and other riskier assets and sell U.S. dollars.
CLINTON AFRICA
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton heads to Liberia, in the latest leg of her seven-nation, 11-day trip to the continent. Clinton encouraged Nigeria to step its anti-graft efforts on Wednesday.
ZOELLICK AFRICA
World bank President Robert Zoellick heads to Uganda today after pledging to boost development aid to neighbouring Rwanda.

SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS
South Africa's rand reversed earlier losses against the dollar on Wednesday on news the country's biggest union had suspended a wage strike that could have hurt the economy.
The JSE Top-40 index of blue-chip stocks lost 0.22 percent to 22,231.02 points while the All-share index dipped 0.38 percent to 24,588.45 points.
KENYA MARKETS
The NSE 20 share index shed 7.34 points to close Wednesday's session at 3,254.42 points.
EAST AFRICA INFRASTRUCTURE
Dar es salaam continues to host a meeting on the infrastructure. Tanzania said it had agreed a $400 million loan with China to develop the Kiwira coal power project.
