EDF to buy 51 pct of Belgium's SPE from Centrica
PARIS (AFP) - EDF (Paris: FR0010242511 - news) is to buy 51 percent of the Belgian electricity company SPE from Britain's Centrica (LSE: CNA.L - news) , which will acquire 20 percent of the nuclear operator British Energy (LSE: BGY.L - news) , the two companies announced Monday.
EDF and Centrica will also create a joint venture company, 80 percent controlled by the French group and 20 percent by Centrica, to build four European Pressurised Reactor-type nuclear power stations in Britain.
