LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp (NYSE: CDE - news) said it is hoping to win approval for its tailings facility
at the Kensington Gold Mine in Alaska later this year after the U.S. Forest Service decided to evaluate the plan as an environmental assessment.

Construction of the mine and mill, near Juneau, southeast Alaska, is mostly complete, and this decision raises the possibility that production will begin in 2009, the company said.
