Xtract Energy says to re-drill the Plover gas charged sands despite blockages

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Xtract Energy PLC (LSE: XTR.L - news) said despite confirmation of blockages in the well immediately above
the Elang/Plover formation in the Heron North structure, the joint venture has agreed to sidetrack around the blockage to re-drill the Plover gas-charged sands.

Via a statement released by Heron-2 well project participant MEO Australia Ltd, in which Xtract currently holds around 15.7 pct, Xtract said a whipstock to facilitate side tracking of the well is now in place with dirlling expected to begin tomorrow.

The statement said it has put measures in place in order to avoid further significant mud losses during the production test of the Elang sands.
