Airbus delivers 2nd Airbus A380 to Singapore Airlines, on schedule UPDATE

(updates with delivery timetable, background)

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - EADS (Paris: NL0000235190 - news) unit Airbus said it delivered its second production model of the new A380 super-jumbo to Singapore Airlines (C6L.SI - news) today, on schedule.

SIA's first A380 was delivered in October.

Earlier today the airline grounded the first plane after its front wheels left the runway while being towed.

Agence France-Presse quoted an SIA captain as saying the original aircraft needs some maintenance and will be used for training until the company's third A380 is delivered next month.

SIA has ordered 19 A380s in all and 13 are due to be delivered in total this year, six before the summer.
