Summer's best credit cards

By Hannah Ricci

Organise your summer spending this week by switching to a credit card that is suited to your needs. If you've splurged on holiday and can't afford to pay off your credit card bill in one go, it's worth transferring your balance to the Tesco Bonus Mastercard. It charges an initial balance transfer fee of 2%, but your balance will be interest-free for 12 months.

If you're heading to the shops to take advantage of the summer sales or booking a trip away, HSBC Mastercard offers 0% interest on purchases for 12 months, before reverting to an APR of 15.9%.

The Post Office Classic Mastercard is top dog for overseas spending at the moment, with an APR of 16.9%, 2% withdrawal fee and no foreign loading fee for using your card on the continent.

If you're just looking for a good value long-term credit card and don't want the hassle of switching when 0% deals end, the Intelligent Finance Flat Rate Mastercard offers the lowest long-term rate on purchases at 5.9% with a 59-day interest-free period.
