LONDON (ShareCast) - US shares have lost all their early gains. The Dow Jones is down 13 at 10,214, while the S&P is four lower at 1,089. Nasdaq (NASDAQ: news) was the biggest percentage faller will a nine point decline to 2,145.

News that games developer Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS - news) plans to slash 1,500 jobs made it the biggest faller on Nasdaq. Shrinking sales mean that EA has lost money in 11 quarters in a row.

Shares in database software giant Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL - news) fell after the European Commission (EC) raised objections to its proposed takeover of Java software company Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVAD - news) .

The EC fears the merger will materially reduce competition in the database software market.

The world's largest bond insurer MBIA was hit by falling securities prices. MBIA reported a $727.8m net loss after various write-downs.

Engineer Fluor Corp (NYSE: FLR - news) missed forecasts for its third quarter figures and has cut its full year projections.

Insurer American International Group (NYSE: AIG - news) reckons that it will be able to pay back the Federal Reserve credit line if financial markets stabilise.

The Kraft Foods (NYSE: KFT - news) share price is recovering following its bid for Cadbury (LSE: CBRY.L - news) .

US housebuilder Beazer Homes USA moved back into the black in the fourth quarter of its financial year. This is the first quarterly profit for three years.

Profits in the three months to September 2009 totalled $34m compared with a loss of $474m over the same period the previous year. Revenues fell to $376.3m from $649.8m.
