news) , the former after reporting good volumes of business, the latter after saying it is considering a possible merger proposal from rival bus and train group Stagecoach. In the FTSE 100, miners still dominate the risers, with silver specialist Fresnillo (LSE:
FRES.L -
news) the biggest riser. FTSE 100 up 64 at 5,255.
1015: Footsie (news) remains buoyant as miners climb higher. Mexican silver miner Fresnillo is the top riser. Platinum miner Lonmin (LSE: LMI.L - news) is also going well and industrial metal groups such as Anglo American (LSE: AAL.L - news) and Kazakhmys (LSE: KAZ.L - news) are also posting good gains. FTSE 100 up 58 at 5,249.
0920: Only a small hajdful of Footsie constituents fail to make headway this morning as miners and properties drive the index higher. Broker Evolution Securities has done its bit to give the property sector a boost, raising its ratings on British Land (LSE: BLND.L - news) , Liberty International and Segro (LSE: GBB1YFN97.L - news) . FTSE 100 is up 70 at 5,260.
0830: Buyers are in the ascendency again sending Footsie up strongly in early dealings. Silver miner Fresnillo, British Land and the current fashion flavour of the month Burberry lead the way. Cable & Wirelsss is the only notable blue chip faller. FTSE 100 up 50 at 5,241.
