LONDON (ShareCast) - BT Vision, BT (LSE: BT-A.L - news) 's pay-tv operation, expects to offer all BSkyB (LSE: BSY.L
- news) 's English Premier League package to its customers by the start of the next football season.
"I want to add Sky Sports to our offering, there's no question about that," said Mark Watson, the incoming chief of BT Vision, to The Independent.
"I would hope to have them by the beginning of season 2010-2011. It would be one of the things that would give us a step change in terms of our proposition. As you can imagine, lots of our customers ask about it, and we'd like to be able to offer it to them," he added.
The comments come following a recent report from media regulator Ofcom, which suggested BSkyB cut the wholesale prices it charges rival platforms by 30%.
The media regulator said its proposals were designed to address its concerns about the restricted distribution of premium sports and movie channels operated by BSkyB.
BSkyB disagreed with Ofcom's conclusion and said it would seek all "legal avenues" if there is any intervention, while BT said it welcomed the proposals.
