LONDON (ShareCast) - Europe's main markets are slightly lower early on after a terrible jobs report blasted Wall Street last night.
Figures out yesterday showed that another 467,000 people joined the queue for work last month, far more than
the 365,000 predicted. More than 6m American jobs have now been lost since the recession began, but the latest figure was the first month-on-month drop in four months.
Across the markets, the German DAX is down 15 points at 4,703 with the French CAC falling 11 points to 3,104. The Swiss market has dropped 2 points to 5,353.
French utility EDF (Paris: FR0010242511 - news) is leading the fallers in Paris after Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS - news) cut its stance on the stock to 'equal weight' from 'overweight'.
Shares in France Telecom (Paris: FR0000133308 - news) also dropped after UBS (Virt-X: UBSN.VX - news) downgraded the telecom giant to 'sell' from 'neutral'.
