Market overview: FTSE 100 down 4

LONDON (ShareCast) - 0910: Footsie (news) is in the red now despite strong gains from airline BA which released quarterly figures today. Reed Elsevier (Amsterdam: 273044.AS
- news) has also picked up after yesterday's fall on its £824m placing. FTSE 100 down 4 at 4,627.

0845: Footsie is making headway again, this time lifted by British Airways (LSE: BAY.L - news) where investors are looking past the quarterly loss to better times ahead. Reed Elsevier has also picked up after yesterday's fall on its £824m placing. Royal Dutch Shell (Amsterdam: RDSA.AS - news) is one of the main fallers on suggestions today that its dividend may be frozen. FTSE 100 up 8 at 4,640.
