LONDON (ShareCast) - Construction support services group Mountfield announced a profit before tax of £1.36m in its first set of results as a public company.
The firm, which specialises in fitting data centres, said profit before tax
rose 14.2% in 2008 from £1.19m a year earlier, on revenue that rose from £11.39m to £17.44m.
Chief executive Graham Read said the company remained confident even though trading had been challenging during the year.
The firm said it had responded to the more difficult trading conditions in the early part of this year by widening its client base as well as implementing business efficiency processes and accelerating the integration of its separate businesses.
Read explained to ShareCast that efficiency measures had involved sharing overheads for the firm's three companies; Mountfield Building, Connaught Access Flooring and Mountfield Land.
He said the company was on target to report similar turnover to that of last year.
Read also referred to opportunities arising from building and infrastructure projects for the London 2012 Olympics, including the velodrome, the media centre and the athletes' village, though he said revenues from these projects will not show through til next year.
