British bank Lloyds to axe up to 1,660 more jobs

LONDON (AFP) - Britain's state-controlled Lloyds Banking Group (LSE: LLOY.L - news) said Tuesday it would shed up to 1,660 more jobs and close its Cheltenham & Gloucester retail branches.

LBG said in a statement it would shut its network of 164 C&G branches, resulting in the loss of 833 jobs, while up to 928 other positions would be slashed elsewhere.
