LONDON (ShareCast) - The Bank of England will announce its interest rate decision later today, which will almost certainly be to leave interest rates unchanged at 0.5%.
Of more interest will be the Bank's tweaking of its quantitative easing
(QE) programme.
At the last meeting the Monetary Policy Committee voted unanimously in favour of extending the QE programme by £50bn, with some committee members arguing for an even bigger rise of £75bn.
Some pundits believe that those committee members petitioning for the extra £25bn will get their wish this week.
The European Central Bank is also widely expected to keep its benchmark rate steady at the current record low of 1%.
