'Men More Likely To Be Gold-Diggers'

It's official - men are more likely to be gold-diggers than women. The perception is that women are more likley to marry for money. But a new poll shows men are a lot worse when it comes to fortune hunting. Some 19% admitted
they would tie the knot with someone in order to benefit from their wealth and luxury lifestyle.The figure for women in the survey by insurer Scottish Widows was just 11%. Instead 67% of women said they thought it was important that they earned their own money. A further 76% said they did not rely on their partner to take the lead when it came to finances. Young people were the most likely to consider marrying someone for their money. Nearly one in five of both sexes aged under 24 said they would do this, according to the research. A Scottish Widows spokesman said: "Our survey shows the tide is turning with so many men willing to be financially dependent on their partner. "But it's good to see the surge in women taking responsibility for their own financial future." :: The survey questioned 2,647 people.
