Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on Jan 9
MILAN, Jan 9 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect
Italian markets on Friday.

BOURSE AFTERHOURS TRADING CLOSED
ALITALIA (Milan: AZA.MI - news)
Air France (Paris: FR0000031122 - news) -KLM looked set to seal an alliance with
Alitalia as rival Lufthansa (Xetra: 823212 - news) backed away from taking a
minority stake in the revamped Italian airline on Thursday after
a three-month battle.
Several newspapers said Air France-KLM was expected to hold
a Friday board meeting regarding an Alitalia alliance.
UNICREDIT (Milan: UCG.MI - news)
Shareholder foundations will meet next week, probably
Wednesday, for a first consultation on eventual changes on
governance of the group, Il Sole 24 Ore (Milan: S24.MI - news) said. The
UniCredit-Mediobanca (Milan: MB.MI - news) merger dossier is not on the agenda but
remains a reserve option for the coming months, it said.
* RUSSIA/UKRAINE GAS
Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said after Thursday
telephone talks with Russia Prime Minister Vladimir Putin that a
solution to the gas dispute between Russia and Ukraine is close,
Il Giornale said, citing Berlusconi.
* ENI (Milan: ENI.MI - news)
ENI has withdrawn from the contest to acquire control of
Dutch energy company Essent, leaving the way open for Germany's
RWE (Xetra: 703712 - news) to win the privatisation, MF newspaper said,
citing sources close to the operation.
* AUTOGRILL (Milan: AGL.MI - news)
Autogrill has won concessions to operate two outlets at
Seville, Spain's Santa Justa rail station for a seven-year
period and worth 5 million euros in sales, MF newspaper said.
IRIDE (Milan: IRD.MI - news) , ENIA (Milan: EN.MI - news)
The main shareholders of regional utility Iride have hired
advisers to help resolve issues that are putting at risk its
planned merger with peer Enia SpA, two sources close to
the shareholders said.
BANCA POPOLARE DI MILANO (Milan: PMI.MI - news)
Banca Popolare di Milano has reached a stake of more than
two-thirds in Anima SGR (Milan: ANM.MI - news) , the limit at which the
cooperative bank's buy-out offer for the asset manager was
conditional.
BANCA POPOLARE DELL'EMILIA ROMAGNA (Milan: BPE.MI - news)
BPER expects to launch its buy-out offer for Meliorbanca (Milan: MEL.MI - news) in January, the Italian cooperative bank said on
Thursday after getting clearance from the Bank of Italy.
