It will take 'considerable' time to end crisis: Obama
WASHINGTON (AFP) - President Barack Obama said Monday it will take "considerable" time to emerge from the economic crisis and the latest unemployment numbers were a sign the United States remains in a deep recession.
Obama offered the candid assessment in announcing plans to speed up stimulus spending to save or create 600,000 jobs over the next 100 days.
The loss of 345,000 jobs in May was "a reminder that we're still in the middle of a very deep recession that was years in the making and that's going to take a considerable amount of time for us to pull out of," he said.
