FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Shares in Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Xetra: 731400 - news) . were higher in afternoon trade as dealers pointed to talk that billionaire investor Warren Buffett might be interested in buying the company.
'It is very hard to evaluate a rumour like this,' said a local trader who pointed to comments that Buffett made on Saturday at the annual general meeting for Berkshire Hathaway Inc, his insurance and investment company.
A spokesman for Heidelberger Druck said he could not comment on the rumours.
At 2.32 p.m., shares in Heidelberger Druck were 0.48 euros, or 2.78 percent, higher at 17.75, making the third top gainer on the DAX (Xetra: news) . Buffett outlined plans to buy cash-strapped family-owned businesses.
'We want more family owners of German businesses ... who, when they feel some need to monetize their business, think Berkshire Hathaway,' Buffett said at the company's annual meeting. 'We want to be on their radar screen.'
