Week ahead: Interest rates, BAT, Liberty International, Unilever
LONDON (ShareCast) - News of falling house prices will increase the pressure of Bank of England to cut interest rates on Thursday, but the Bank may be reluctant following last month's quarter point cut to 5%. In a busy week on the company
news front, several FTSE 100 constituents release first quarter results including British American Tobacco (LSE: BATS.L - news) , real estate giant Liberty International and food and household goods firm Unilever (LSE: ULVR.L - news) .British American saw its 2007 pre-tax profits rise to £3bn versus £2.76bn last time on revenue that increased 3% to £10bn. Liberty International, whose portfolio includes the Covent Garden shopping centre in London, has had a tougher time over the past year. Earlier this month it predicted a fall in adjusted net asset value (NAV) per share of more than 6.5% between December last year and March this year
