Week ahead: Oil majors, Thomson Reuters, Hammerson
LONDON (ShareCast) - In a big week for the energy sector, oil majors BP (LSE: BP.L - news) and Shell (LSE: RDSB.L
- news) release first quarter results on Tuesday, while oil and gas explorer BG Group (LSE: BG.L - news) 's are due on Wednesday. JP Morgan recently raised its rating on BP to 'overweight' from 'neutral' and upped its price target to 625p from 600p noting a 25% drop in its share price over the past two years. However, it cut its price targets on Shell to 2,000p from 2,050p and on BG Group to 1,236p from 1,400p after lowering European refining margin assumptions. Newly-merged financial information giant Thomson Reuters (TRI.TO - news) has had a tough time since joining the FTSE 100 on April 16. ABN Amro (Amsterdam: ABAGB.AS - news) and Collins Stewart (LSE: CLST.L - news) started coverage on the company with 'sell' recommendations, while Morgan Stanley (SPU - news) rates it at 'underweight'. Thursday's first quarter results will shed some light on whether their pessimism is warranted.
