French stocks - Factors to watch on Nov 7

PARIS, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Below are leading stories from French newspapers and company-related news which could have an impact on the French market or individual stocks.

LAFARGE (Paris: FR0000120537
- news)

Construction group posted higher third quarter operating profit but said it could not confirm its 2010 targets. For details, see.

SODEXHO

Catering and services group posted a 2007-2008 operating profit of 690 million euros, above a Reuters forecast for an operating profit of 680 million euros. For details, see .

ALCATEL (Paris: FR0000130007 - news) -LUCENT

Alcatel-Lucent has announced a seven-year extension of its partnership with BT (LSE: BT-A.L - news) , focused on the support of BT's global network operations. The agreement is aimed at further enhancing the services delivered to BT Global Services' customers and at optimising BT's non-UK non-IP network.

SOPRA

The public works group said its order book at Oct. 1 was down on the prevouis two quarters. Reporting a 4.1 percent rise in its order book to 9.9 billion euros ($12.76 billion), which makes up 10.5 months of work, Eiffage (Paris: FR0000130452 - news) said the figure was down 1.8 percent on the previous two quarters. Third quarter sales were up 7.1 percent to 3.391 billion euros.

CAR COMPANIES

J.D. Power Automotive Forecasting said West European new car sales fell 15.5 percent in October. 'The speed and severity of the market decline is now comparable to, perhaps even greater than, that which took place during the recession of the early 1990s.' it said, adding that dealing with this sharply reduced level of demand through 2009 would place major strains on the European carmaking industry.

AIRBUS (Paris: NL0000235190 - news)

Airbus Industrie said it had net orders of 675 planes at end October and it made 391 deliveries.

WENDEL (Paris: FR0000121204 - news)

The French industrial holding firm said it was expecting a more difficult 2009 and extended its Saint-Gobain financing to 2011 and 2013. Wendel said its nine month consolidated sales were up 17 percent to 4.044 billion euros.

BONGRAIN

The French milk and cheese firm said continued high milk prices meant it would be unable to match last year's second half sales. Bongrain (Paris: FR0000120107 - news) said third quarter sales were up 4.5 percent to 2.6 billion euros ($3.35 billion) on a like-for-like basis.

AUTOMA-TEC

The French maker of machines to produce printed circuit boards declared it had suspended payments and that a court had started a judicial recovery procedure. It gave no reasons for the move but noted it sold 95 percent of its production abroad, mainly to Asia. Many French exporters have suffered from the strenght of the euro exchange rate.

CAMAIEU

The ready-to-wear textile group said its executive chairman Richard Maurice was resigning and added it would name a successor as soon as possible. It gave no reasons.

MAISONS FRANCE CONFORT (Paris: FR0004159473 - news)

The home builder said that despite a difficult market with overall new buildings down 17.6 percent, its nine month sales rose 6 percent to 375.5 million euros. It aims for a 2008 sales rise of 5 percent with a profit margin close to that for H1.

MANITOU (Paris: FR0000038606 - news)

The leader in rough-terrain handling equipments and forklift maker said nine moth sales were up 6.6 percent at current exchange rates to just over one billion euros. It said sales were set to decline by between 15 and 20 pct in the fourth quarter and it could not achieve its profit guidance, which was for a 10 to 15 percent decline.

CHANTIERS D'ATLANTIQUE

The French state is taking a one-third stake in a civil and naval shipyard that had become owned by a South Korean firm.

In a statement, the office of President Nicolas Sarkozy said France would own 33.34 percent in the Chantiers d'Atlantique yards in the west of France through a capital increase of 110 million euros ($141.8 million). STX will see its stake drop to 50.01 percent from 75 percent. Alstom (Paris: FR0010220475 - news) will have a lower state of 16.65 percent instead of 25 percent.
