PARIS, Aug 7, 2009 (AFP) - The French trade balance showed an increased deficit in June of 4.008 billion euros from 3.137 billion in May, adjusted data from the customs service showed on Friday.

In the 12 months to the end of June, the cumulative balance showed a deficit of 52.926 billion euros (76.052 billion dollars).

In June, exports totalled 27.441 billion euros, a slight fall from the figure in May owing mainly to a reduction in the number of aircraft exported from an unusually high figure in May.

In the last three months, exports fell by 1.7 percent from the level in the the first quarter of this year.

In June, imports amounted to 31.449 billion euros, a slight increase from the figure for May. In the last three months, they fell by 4.5 percent.

In the last quarter, both exports and imports fell by more than 20 percent from the figure in the same period of last year, reflecting the effects of the global economic crisis.
