African Markets - Factors to watch on August 7
August 7 (Reuters) - The following company announcements, scheduled economic indicators, debt and currency market moves and political events may affect African markets on Friday.

GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks dipped on Friday as investors grew cautious before a key U.S. jobs report, while the Australian dollar got only a brief lift despite signals from the central bank that interest rates could rise over time.
CLINTON-AFRICA
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton heads to South Africa part of her seven-nation trip to Africa, she will push South Africa to use its influence with neighbour Zimbabwe.
She is also seeking closer ties with Pretoria after strained relationships with the Bush administration.

SOUTH AFRICAN MARKETS
South Africa's rand weakened on Friday, knocked by a renewed run from risk after global stock markets fell and the dollar gained against the euro on investor worries about job losses.
But stocks shrugged off those concerns, soaring to a fresh 10-month high.
The JSE Top-40 index of blue-chip stocks rose 0.68 percent to 22,630.45 points, climbing to the highest levels since Sept. 25.
The All-share index added 0.55 percent to 25,045.68 points.
NIGERIA MARKETS
Nigeria's central bank sold $416 million at 150.31 naira to the U.S. dollar at its foreign exchange auction on Wednesday, short of the $453 million demanded by end-users, traders said on Thursday. The naira was trading at 154.70 to the dollar on the interbank market on Thursday compared with 154.90 at Wednesday's close.
NIGERIA CORPORATE EARNINGS
Stanbic IBTC, the Nigerian unit of South Africa's Standard Bank, said on Thursday its net profit fell by a third to 5.5 billion naira ($37 million) in the six months to the end of June.
KENYA MARKETS
The NSE 20 share index closed Thursday up 12.89 points to close at 3237.20. The all-share index was up 0.26 points to close at 71.81
