THERE’S AN OLD saying: “one law for the rich, another for the rest of us”. That may or may not be true but it certainly is a case of one pension plan for the rich, another for the rest of us. The recent TUC survey on executive
pensions (see news story below) shows such a gulf between the top dogs in British industry and the downtrodden masses that you wonder the Government (a Labour one too never forget!) allows such disparity to exist in the first place. I’d like to see £1m pa Lord Browne - ex BP - survive on the Basic State Pension of £87.30 a week. And he could always console himself that when he reaches 80 he’ll get an Age Addition supplement - of 25p per week. Now we’re talking!
