UPDATE 1-Mauritius' annual inflation falls to 6.9 pct in June
PORT LOUIS, July 6 (Reuters) - Annual inflation in Mauritius fell to 6.9 percent in June from 7.4 percent in May, thanks to lower housing, energy and water costs, official data showed on Monday.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages however increased by 0.9 percent between May and June, as well as clothing and footwear costs, which rose 1.6 percent.
'The headline rate of inflation for the 12 months ending June 2009 works out to 6.9 percent,' the Indian Ocean island's Central Statistics Office said in a statement.
The central bank said in April it expected annual inflation to fall to around 4 percent this year from 9.7 percent in 2008.
