Account holders with Britannia Building Society have helped to return almost £4.21m to their favourite football clubs this year.

Britannias Save and Support affinity accounts, which are associated with thirteen Premiership, Championship
and First Division Clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Stoke City and Ipswich Town, offer holders the chance to support a club of their choice. Britannia also offers junior accounts and mortgages with a number of these clubs.

Each year Brittania returns a bonus to the clubs, the amount of which is determined by the amount of money in the savings accounts and the number of supporters taking mortgages. 2008 has seen a record amount returned to the clubs.

Peter Mansfield, head of affinity relationships at Britannia, said: “This is a huge amount of money, all generated by loyal fans. Our Save and Support accounts, in particular, are a great incentive for people of all ages to put some money aside and support their favourite club at the same time.”
